Headstall and BreastCollar Question?
I bought a Western saddle and it came with a headstall, reins, and breastcollar. This Western saddle is just for pleasure like on the trail. I have a Hunter English saddle that I use for show and jumping and riding all the time. Okay so my question is WHERE THE HECK DOES THE BIT GO, WHEN THE HEADSTALL WHERE THE BIT IS SUPPOSE TO BE PLACED IS CLAMPED SHUT AND SAME WITH THE REINS AND BREAST COLLAR!!!!
Here is a picture of the headstall like mine except mines a different color. Look at where the bit is suppose to be...

HOW DO I PUT THE BIT ON?
yeah like i said, i only ride hunter, and have a HDR saddle. i've never had to put together anything western wise. i just think western saddles are comfortable though.
Answer:
The bit is attached at the bottom with Chicago Screws. You will need a flat head screw driver and more than likely a pair of pliers.
Use the pliers to hold the flat back piece and the screw driver to unscrew the cap. Be careful not to loose the pieces.
Place the bit in the bottom of the bridle, make sure the bit is facing the correct direction. Put the screws back in place.
The breast collar should attach to the Dee rings on the saddle. The bottom piece (the breast collar probably looks like a Y) hooks to the girth.
Sounds like you would be best off finding a western rider to make sure you get everything properly adjusted.
Good luck.
