Autumn night ride on my dapple grey horse
Running across the field with full force
Knowing tonight will be our very last ride
I try not to think about it and listen to his stride.
I slow him down to a walk to let him rest.
I hear a robin singing nearby in it's nest.
From a flowing creek I let him drink
While the sun is setting in shades of pink.
After he's done we head back to the farm.
It's going to be hard leaving my goodluck charm.
When we get to the barn, I put up his tack
Under his silver-studded name plaque.
Before I leave I give him one last treat
His favorite, a sweet sugar beet.
Eyes full of tears as I get into the truck
I wave goodbye as my friends wish me good luck
On my journey to a place with big pastures and log cabins,
A big sky, a big lake, and beautiful white topped mountains.
ha i wrote this in 7th grade.. i am now a freshman
